WHAT WE BELIEVE:
Baptism offers us an opportunity to celebrate the amazing work God has done in the lives of Christ-followers and is a public testimony to others that you are a believer in Christ.
We encourage believers to be baptized by immersion, following the example in the New Testament.
At NLC, we wait until our children are old enough to believe and understand
the true meaning of baptism before we baptize them.
We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible and authoritative Word of God. Acts 2:42, 1 Corinthians 1:10
We believe that there is one true God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. 2 Tim 3:15
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal future return to this earth in power and glory to rule a thousand years. Matthew 1:23, Philippians 2:9-11
We believe man was created good and upright but by voluntary transgression, fell, incurring not only physical death, but also spiritual death which is separation from God. Genesis 1:26-27, 2:17, 3:6, Romans 5:12-19
We believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ. Ephesians 2:8, Romans 8:16
We believe there are two ordinances: Water Baptism and Holy Communion. Baptism- Mark 16:16, Acts 10:47-48 & Holy Communion- 1 Corinthians 11:26, 2 Peter 1:4
We believe that the baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it. Acts 1:8, Mark 16:20
We believe that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is witnessed by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives them utterance. Acts 2:4, 1 Corinthians 12:4-10, 28
We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life. 1Thes. 5:23, 1 Peter 1:15-16
We believe the Church is the body of Christ. Ephesians 1:22-23, Hebrews 2:2-4
We believe ordained ministry is provided for a threefold purpose: Evangelism, Worship of God and the Edification of the Body. Mark 16:15-20 Eph. 4:11, 16
We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer. Matthew 8:16-17, James 5:14-16
We believe in the Blessed Hope, which is the Rapture of the Church at Christ's coming. 1 Corinthians 15:51-52, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
We believe in the second coming of Christ. Isaiah 11:6-9, Micah 4:3-4
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation. Revelation 20:11-15, 21:8
We believe in the new heaven and earth. John 14:2-3, 2 Peter 3:13
